Billy honked the Zipcar's horn as he pulled up in front of their apartment building. Sure they could have teleported out to the camp grounds, but the whole point of this trip was to spend more time together, to connect, so driving it was.

He couldn’t stop the laugh when he heard the honk. Ignoring the siutcase on the bed, Teddy walked over to the window and poked his head out. “It’s not nice to honk at the buildings you know!” He was teasing of course, but if it brought a smile to Billy’s face then it was worth it.

His hands automatically slipped to Billy’s hips, as if gravity was pulling them into those two points. Humming against the kiss, Teddy smiled. “I think that’s a great idea. You still have to show me around after all.” An entire week out here with nothing but the two of them. The excitement was almost overwhelming and is arms wrapped around Billy’s torso, lifting him up off his feet to kiss him again.

"I love you. Thank you for doing this."

Billy grinned, feeling great for the first time that he could remember. “I did it for us,” he said, lacing his fingers with Teddy’s. “I know it’s been rough lately, but this? Us? There’s nothing more important. I promise.”  He rested his hands on top of Teddy’s. “And I lost sight of that for a while…”

Teddy had always had an appreciation for nature. It was something that his mother had instilled in him at a young age. Stepping out of the car now, hearing nothing but birds, eagles and the wind through the trees for miles was enough to make his ears ring. He loved it.

"It’s perfect. Bee." He wouldn’t wait. catching their food, cooking over a campfire, and yes, even dealing the bugs. He loved it.

Billy circled around to Teddy’s side of the car, threading his arms around his neck. The peaceful look on Teddy’s face had a rush of relief flowing through him. “Glad you like it,” he said, pressing a kiss to his lips. He patted his shoulders. “What do you think about getting our campsite set up and going for a walk?”

Ask anyone, I don’t like taking money from other people beyond mooching a meal off my awesome roommate. I like to be as self-sufficient as possible. But I find myself approaching my surgery date with more than just the procedure on my mind.

My doctors suspect that I have, and are performing surgery to diagnose and remove any lesions from, endometriosis. This has been an eight year battle with mystery pains that have stopped me from working and nearly cost me several jobs.

Right now, I work as a salesperson and the majority of my pay comes from sales. My company only gives me 7 paid days off a year—my surgery will keep me out several days and I have already used at least two from being ill and one so that I could spend Thanksgiving with my family. Not only that, but my paid time off will be issued at my sub-minimum wage rate of $6/hr. (Which they are allowed to pay me because I earn commission.)

Luckily I am insured and have my parents helping with the out of pocket costs of the surgery, but I do depend on my commission to pay my rent and my other bills. So if anyone can pitch in a few dollars or even a reblog I would be so grateful. If you can’t, then a reblog would be loved

"Well, I guess I’ll just have to wait and see won’t I?" He raised their joined hands to kiss the back of Billy’s. He had nearly forgotten what it felt like out here. Where there was nothing but trees and mountains for miles, and a sky so big Teddy felt like he could drown in it. Billy was right. This was more needed than he thought it would be.

Five hours, two bathroom breaks, a few rounds of ‘grandmother’s trunk,’ and a pitstop at Taco Bell later, Billy turned off the highway at the exit towards Lake Placid. Nestled upstate in the Adirondack Mountains, it was about as far away from the city as he could think of without actually leaving New York.

He’d been to the town once before when he was younger on a family vacation. He couldn’t think of anywhere else he wanted to bring Teddy. A small mountain town, lakes to swim, mountains to climb, scenic campgrounds but not too far from civilization in case the urge for a slice of pizza hit hard.

He drove past the town proper and turned into the parking lot where he’d rented a campsite for the week. “Here we go,” he said, turning off the ignition.

[text: idkmybffkate] I know it’s last minute. But we really really need some time together, just the two of us.
